Common Refrigerator Problems We Fix

Refrigerator not cooling. Usually a failed compressor start relay, a bad evaporator fan, a dirty condenser coil, or a control board issue. The fix ranges widely, which is why the diagnostic matters.

Freezer works but the fridge is warm. Almost always airflow — a frosted-over evaporator coil, a failed damper, or a dead circulation fan moving cold air between compartments.

Water leaking onto the floor. Typically a clogged defrost drain or a cracked water line. Often one of the cheaper repairs.

Ice maker not producing ice. Could be the water inlet valve, the ice maker module, a frozen fill tube, or low water pressure at the line.

Refrigerator running constantly. Worn door gaskets, a stuck defrost timer, or coils packed with dust. Also the reason your power bill jumped.

Loud noise or clicking. Clicking every few minutes usually means the compressor is trying to start and failing — a relay problem, and worth addressing before it becomes a compressor replacement.

Frost building up inside. A failed defrost heater, thermostat, or timer.

Brands We Service

We repair all major refrigerator brands, including Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag, KitchenAid, Bosch, Kenmore, Amana, and Electrolux — including French door, side-by-side, top and bottom freezer, and built-in units.

What It Costs

Our diagnostic fee is $85, and it applies toward the cost of the repair if you decide to move forward.

Most refrigerator repairs land between $150 and $450 depending on the part. You’ll get the full price before any work begins — no surprises on the invoice.

And if the repair doesn’t make financial sense, we’ll say so. On an older unit facing a compressor replacement, replacement is often the better call. We’d rather give you honest advice than sell you a repair you’ll regret.

Before You Call

Two things speed us up:

Find your model number. Usually on a sticker inside the fridge — along the left wall, near the crisper drawers, or on the door frame. It lets us bring the right part on the first visit.

Note what it’s doing. Is it cooling at all? Is the freezer still cold? Any noises? Any water on the floor? Those details often tell us the likely cause before we arrive.
